Dr. Charles Ume, Chairman of the Board
Dr. Ume is Professor and Director of the Advanced Electronic Packaging and Laser Processing Laboratory, at the George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia and founded Akrometrix in 1993. Professor Ume received his Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of South Carolina in Mechanical Engineering, and has held the rank of Professor at Georgia Tech since 1999. Dr. Ume has been the Chairman of the Board for Akrometrix since its inception in 1993. He holds numerous patents and has published over 80 reviewed journal articles and books since 1985. As a prolific researcher he has mentored dozens of advanced degree students and has won numerous awards for his academic teaching skills.



Nicolas W. Khoury
President and CEO

Nick Khoury is a senior executive with over 26 years experience with large global and start-up high technology companies. He joined Akrometrix as President and CEO in July of 2008. Prior to joining Akrometrix Nick was the President of iFire Technology Ltd. a Canadian research and technology company involved in flat panel display (FPD) applications; President and a Board member of OFS Fitel, LLC., an optical fiber subsidiary of Furukawa Electric of Japan headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia; Vice President and General Manager of the Fiber Optics Division of Lucent Technologies and Head of Integrated Circuits Manufacturing for Lucent Technologies Microelectronics Division in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his years of experience in the semiconductor and fiber optics industries Nick has served on numerous Boards of Directors for companies such as Litespec, a joint venture between Lucent Technologies and Sumitomo Electric of Japan, The Shanghai Fiber Optics Company in China and Sacred Heart Hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Nick obtained a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University and completed an Executive Education Program from INSEAD, France.



Michael E. Kohlsdorf
Mr. Kohlsdorf is a senior executive with a notable record of key leadership positions and almost 30 years of experience. Currently CEO and President of Aderant, Mr. Kohlsdorf previously served as a Senior VP for Ikon Office Solutions, where he was responsible for a division of 16,000 employees generating $2.3 billion in sales. Mr. Kohlsdorf is known as a go-to-market innovator with a history of pioneering new technologies. Mr. Kohlsdorf has served as President and Chief Financial Officer in six other companies.



Dr. Dirk A. Zwemer

Dr. Zwemer joined Akrometrix in 1995 to help establish R&D, Engineering, Production, Finance and Human Resources functions. Dr. Zwemer was a member of the executive management team for 13 years as Executive Vice President, Technology. He is a current member of the Board of Directors. Dr. Zwemer has over fifteen years prior experience in the electronics industry with Bell Labs as a member of the Technical Staff, ITT as Manager, Advanced Manufacturing and Power Systems and SRI Consulting as a Senior Consultant. He is the author of numerous patents, multiple technical papers, trade journal articles and market research reports. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from MIT, a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California Berkeley and a MBA in Marketing from Santa Clara University.



Patrick B. Hassell

Mr. Hassell is a co-founder of Akrometrix. Previously, Mr. Hassell served as President and CEO and as Director, Business Development. Patrick has both authored and contributed to numerous technical papers, industry publication editorials and industry road-mapping committees. A former employee of the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology, a nationally recognized science and technology company incubator, he was responsible for business plan evaluations focused on technical feasibility and market viability. Patrick received a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA and later received a Masters Science and Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA.



Bertil D. Nordin

Mr. Bertil D. Nordin has provided executive leadership to technology companies for over 30 years including 9 years specializing in mergers and acquisitions with Arthur Andersen. Mr. Nordin previously served as COO of Qantel Corporation and Chairman of the Board and CEO of Digital Communications Corporation. In addition, Bert has served on numerous Boards of Directors for companies such as Checkmate Corporation, TechForce Corporation, Xcellenet, Waggonner Engineering and Masada Security Corporation.



Harold Hoeschen

Mr. Harold Hoeschen is a senior executive with over 30 years of experience in the microelectronics industry with Lucent, Agere and most recently iFire. Mr. Hoeschen has extensive corporate development and M&A experience with numerous transactions ranging in value from US$20 million to US$3 billion worldwide.
